Carter, a 1998 graduate of Ruidoso High School, is
a Cave Restoration Specialist. He will share a
power point presentation of the caves found in
Lincoln County. He will also tell about Eco
Servants, a non-prophet conservation effort that
hires youth for cave restoration during the summer
vacation. Admission is free and refreshments will
be provided.

4/28/08 Installation of circulation furniture and
shelving completed.
2/15/08 Received $51,000 grant from a foundation in
Texas (to remain unnamed). Grant is for shelving,
furnishings and fixtures.
1/25/2008 The building is now stuccoed, heating and
electricity installed and inside painted.
9/31/2007 September gas raffle netted $844
9/23/2007 Open House Event of building
expansion.
8/18/2007 August Auction, partnered with Smokey
Bear's Hometown Association. They were able
to complete the playground project with the
proceeds. The library received $5387 for the
building fund.
7/14/2007 - Building expansion continues. A new
foundation has been poured and framing begun.
6/10/2007 - We broke ground on the building
expansion at the end of May. Thus far the book
room, storage shed, car port, area housing water
heater and furnace/air have been torn down - pipes
moved or removed. Most of the dirt work is finished
and the ditches have been dug for the footings. We
are going on faith that the rest of the needed
money will come. We have raised almost $150,000 so
far.
4/2/2007 - The grocery raffle raised $1800 for the
building campaign. Winners are Carol Brophy, Liz
Trujillo and Russell Clawson.

The focus is on the building campaign. To date
$125,000 has been raised through grants and
donations. $200,000 is needed to to meet our plan
to break ground this spring. Check out the 8' goal
thermometer in front of the library.

Library Advisory Board member Raymond Schrup passed
away recently. There will be a memorial reception
at the library in December - date TBA

$50,000 grant received from the Daniels Fund of
Denver, CO, specifically earmarked for building
expansion. $25,000 will be received now and $25,000
is a challenge grant.

Not 2 Shabby Shop is open. After expenses, 100% of
all proceeds benefit Capitan Public Library.

The annual live auction was a HUGE success. Nearly
150 items or services were donated and over $17,000
was raised. A big thank you to everyone who
participated!
